East Beach Tourist Park at Low Head, Tasmania, offers relaxed beachfront cabins and camping across 22 acres of open coastal grounds, including spacious drive-through sites for larger caravans and motorhomes. Set just behind the dunes with plenty of room to spread out, unwind and enjoy the natural surroundings, it’s a peaceful place to stay just moments from the beach.

Take a walk along the beach in the afternoon, watch the sun set near the Low Head Lighthouse, then settle in for the evening around a campfire under the stars.

Camp with the Wildlife

Pademelon wallabies leave widespread evidence as they roam throughout the park each evening after dusk. However, our resident Tasmanian devils, echidnas, wombats and possums are more discreet and harder to spot amongst the dunes. The yellow-tailed black cockatoos are a magnificent sight as they screech overhead.

As Australia’s third oldest European settlement, preceded only by Sydney and Hobart, Low Head is rich in history, with many fascinating local sites and attractions waiting to be explored.

We stayed 2 nights in an unpowered tent site. Check in was easy and quick. The staff were all friendly and the owner/manager walked us to our site. We were tucked away in a quiet corner out of the wind. The bush around our camp site was the perfect spot to view the wildlife, we saw many wallabies. The camp kitchen was great. Fully stocked with all you will need from toaster and kettle to fridge and oven. The bathrooms were clean and tidy. It was only a very short walk over the dune to the beach, with stunning views of the lighthouse.

Great spot we camped the night nice grassy areas, they allow fire pits and staff are fantastic.

We arrived 3 hours after the office closed, but were warmly welcomed by the owners who opened up just for us to take payment. They then gave us a nighttime tour of the campsite and took the time to show us the best spot to pitch our tent, sheltered from the wind. The setting was ideal, with the sound of the waves during the night and surrounded by a colony of pademelons.
The shared facilities, including the toilets and kitchen, were very clean.
